The owner and businessman for Howe2Run is Phillip Howe. Phillip has always been involved in sports throughout his life as a coach, participant and spectator. So when the opportunity presented itself for him to create Howe2Run, he ran with it. Phillip is often attending workshops and brand events to fulfill those needs. You can also schedule biomechanical testing for an evaluation of your running form with extensive data with him. His inspiration behind the store is not hard to notice.
When you meet Pam, Phillip’s wife and co-owner you better be ready to hit the pavement. She is always full of excitement and big energy. She will welcome you with her brilliant smile. You could say Phillip runs the store and Pam runs the streets. Pam brings together the community for group runs and fitness training. She Includes everyone from runners, walkers, or those working on becoming active. As a very accomplished runner, Pam holds her own, exceeding others half her age at 5k’s, marathons, and ultra running events! Pam ventured into running at age 50. Now, as she prepares to turn 60 her running portfolio is quite impressive. Having completed the Boston Marathon 4 times by qualifying and most recently completing a 50 mile distance she certainly is respected for her accomplishments in the running community.
Marc Cameron, the indispensable General Manager at Howe2Run, makes the team a family. Marc is a highly personable, driven runner that is always ready with a joke and a heartfelt hug to everyone he meets. When you walk in the doors of Howe2Run you are greeted and instantly know you are now family and you will get the best service. Beside wanting to find the right fit for your fitness goals, Marc is very passionate about healthy living. Marc lived a very unhealthy lifestyle for many years. He consequently began to experience many of the ailments that go with this. A health scare drove Marc to do a radical reboot of his life. From there, he chose to eat healthier, and started walking and then running. He wants to use his experience to pay it forward to help others be a stronger, healthier version of themselves. With his high energy and loud personality you can expect him to be your biggest cheerleader.
Together, Phillip, Pam, and Marc make an amazing team. They are very community driven, and incredibly passionate about the running community. Point in fact, Howe2Run is hosting “60 Year Challenge”. This challenge commemorates Pam’s 60th birthday this October but more importantly, it is a fundraiser for the Donna Foundation, an organization of financial assistance and support to those living with breast cancer. The 60 Year Challenge is also in remembrance of a dear runner in our community, Alice Carpenter, who succumbed to breast cancer in 2022. Their amazing love and sense of community is felt through the LowCountry, bringing the active community together from all over. As Howe2Run continues to grow we look forward to our alliance and friendship that is carried into the Daufuskie Island Marathon.
