The Daufuskie Island Marathon is scheduled for January 16, 2021.
Due to the continuing changes brought forth by Covid-19 there will be alterations in race logistics to ensure the safety of everyone.
Race participants and guests cannot enter the Welcome Center on 10 Haig Point unless to use the restroom. Only two people at a time allowed in the welcome center to use the restroom. Race participants and guests will have to remain outside of the welcome center while awaiting the ferry.
It will be mandated that all in attendance must wear masks indoors, on the ferry ride and, wherever they cannot be six feet apart.
Volunteers will do temperature checks and administer hand sanitizer to all boarding the ferries. Anyone with a temperature over 101 will not be allowed to board the ferry.
Race participants and guests will be directed to the Runner’s Village as they unboard the ferries on Daufuskie Island. Race participants and guests will be instructed not to enter the Strachan Mansion on race day.
Runners must wear masks at the start and may remove them once their race kicks off.
We have implemented different wave starts to alleviate congestion/crowding. Waves of 50 runners will be kicked off five minutes apart. Race starts for each distance will be spread apart as follows: 39.3 mile runners race begins at 8:00 am, 26.2 mile runners will start at 8:30 am, 13.1 mile runners will start at 9:30 am.
Volunteers and race staff will don masks and gloves where appropriate. We will also have plenty of masks, gloves and hand sanitizer available.
All food handlers will don gloves and masks.
Runners and spectators waiting in line for food, beverages, bib/swag and, bag drops must wear masks and maintain six feet apart.
We ask that all runners and guests exercise patience due to these measures as they are being mandated to ensure everyone’s well being.
